Effect of Planting System on Productivity of Hybrid Maize-Indian Spinach Intercropping System

A field experiment was undertaken at Joydebpur, Jashore and Ishurdi Farm of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute during Kharif seasons 2016 2017 to find out suitable combination hybrid maize Indian spinach as intercropping system for higher productivity monetary advantage. Treatments included in the were: T1 = Hybrid normal row (75 cm × 20 ) + 1 (plant plant 25 cm), T2 paired (37.5 cm/150 cm) T3 2 rows T4 3 T5 Sole T6 (40 cm). Grain yield maximum sole crop but it decreased 1.0 12.6% 5.2 17.1% 13.4 22.2% due inter specific competition growth resources among intercropping. All treatments showed better performance than crop. The highest equivalent (19.22 18.80 t ha-1 13.30 11.58 11.23 11.10 2017, respectively), gross margin (Tk. 196300 Tk. 192000 111130 85330 88450 86500 respectively) benefit cost ratio (3.13 3.07 2.26 1.97 2.11 2.08 were observed land (1.32 1.39 Joydebpur 1.50 1.47 also found same treatment. On other hand, Ishurdi, LER (1.34 1.35 MNR ISP treatment followed by MPR results revealed that might be economically profitable Ishurdi.
